How we maintain our product knowledge
Our Help & Knowledge library is built from the practical questions that arise when customers and installers choose, install and use data cabinets, network cabling and related infrastructure. It brings together questions received by our support team over many years as well as new questions submitted through our product pages.
Questions start with real products
Each question keeps the product context in which it arose. That lets us explain not only the answer, but also which equipment the answer is relevant to.
New questions submitted through a product page are reviewed before an answer is made public.
Answers are reviewed by our support team
Published answers are reviewed and attributed to a named member of the Data Cabinets Direct support team. The aim is to answer the practical technical, compatibility, buying or installation question being asked.
Product applicability is deliberate
An answer may apply only to the product it was originally associated with, or it may apply to a wider product range where the same technical conditions are shared.
We use our product and compatibility data to connect an answer to the products it genuinely covers rather than simply repeating the same answer across unrelated pages.
One answer has one permanent home
A published question has a permanent Help & Knowledge page. The same answer can then be surfaced on relevant product pages, within its technical topic and elsewhere in the Help library without creating duplicate copies.
If wording or product applicability needs to be reviewed later, the permanent answer can be updated without creating a new page.
Feedback helps us improve
Visitors can tell us when an answer was useful. We also use Help searches to identify questions people are trying to answer and areas where the library could be clearer or more complete.
The library continues to grow
Questions submitted through our product pages are not automatically published. They can be reviewed, answered, assigned to the appropriate technical topic and connected to the products for which the answer is relevant.
That means useful questions raised today can become part of the permanent knowledge available to future customers.
