I'm upgrading from Cat5e — do I only need to change the faceplates and modules?
No, not if the aim is to turn the whole installed link into Cat6. The permanent cable, outlet module, patch-panel termination and patch leads all contribute.
Replacing only the visible faceplates can leave you with very impressive Cat6 labels at either end of exactly the same old Cat5e cable.
