Should I blank an unused opening, or can I leave it empty?
An empty opening is not electrically significant by itself, but fitting a blank gives the outlet a finished appearance and reduces direct access for fingers, dust and debris into the backbox.
Leaving a hole simply because nothing currently needs to occupy it is seldom the tidiest conclusion to the job.
