Why are there two 12.5mm spacers in a 3-way outlet?

Three 25mm modules occupy 75mm of the FP4's 100mm opening. The remaining 25mm is split between two 12.5mm spacers, one at each side, so the three active modules sit neatly centred rather than being pushed to one end.
