Why is it called a 200mm shelf if the usable platform is 190mm deep?

The 200mm figure is the nominal shelf depth: the complete product is actually about 199mm deep.

Once the folds and platform geometry are allowed for, the flat usable surface is about 190mm.

It is a small but important wrinkle when you are measuring a device rather than merely choosing a shelf by its catalogue name.
