Are FP1 and FP2 single-gang and FP4 double-gang?

Yes. FP1 and FP2 are standard single-gang size with 60.3mm fixing centres. FP4 is double-gang with 120.6mm fixing centres.

They can be used with compatible UK flush or surface backboxes.
