What happens if I terminate Cat6 cable onto the Cat5e panel?

It will work, but the Cat5e panel remains the limiting component.

Cat6 cable cannot confer its category on a Cat5e termination simply by touching it; the finished link is assessed as a chain, and the least capable link sets the ceiling.
