What is the plastic strip sticking out of the top of the RJ45 module?
It is a deliberate cable-tie anchoring point.
It is not packaging, a moulding sprue or an errant piece of plastic waiting to be snapped off. The module has two possible cable-restraint points, and this projecting strip is the one used when that route gives the incoming cable the more natural approach to the IDC.
