Can I run the data cable alongside mains power cable?

Data and mains cabling must be installed with the segregation, containment and electrical-safety provisions required by the applicable installation standards and the particular environment. A single universal separation distance cannot be stated for every installation because the required arrangement depends on factors including containment, barriers, circuit type and cable construction.

Where power and telecommunications routes interact, follow the project design and the applicable requirements of BS 7671, BS 6701 and the relevant BS EN 50174 installation standards.
