Can the cabinet be used freestanding on a suitable floor, desk or worktop?

Yes. The cabinets can legitimately be used freestanding on a suitable horizontal surface.

For compatible 19-inch cabinets of 450mm depth and greater, our adjustable feet or castor kits are particularly useful. The shallower 300mm 19-inch cabinets can also stand directly on a suitable surface, although there are fixings underneath, so protective pads are sensible.

Miniline cabinets can also be used freestanding provided the base is sitting properly flat and the lower cable-entry arrangement isn’t interfering with the supporting surface.

A steel cabinet can sit perfectly peacefully on a worktop until a large proportion of its mass is put high up or a heavy device is projected a long way through the rear. At that point it can develop rather different opinions about gravity.

For a freestanding installation, consider the complete load distribution as well as whether the surface itself is strong enough.
